Aerial Spraying Concludes, Free Insect Repellant Available
September 4, 2012 – Clarke/Dynamic Aviation, the contractor hired by the Department of State Health Services for aerial spraying, reported on September 2 that they have completed spraying in Denton County. All areas scheduled to be sprayed received two applications of Duet over the course of three nights, for a total area of 565,629 acres. No further aerial spraying is anticipated for Denton County.
The next phase of the process involves Clarke completing mosquito trapping in the areas sprayed, in order to determine effectiveness. Clarke will submit their results to the Denton County Health Department (DCHD) within two weeks.
As a part of the DCHD’s ongoing efforts to combat West Nile virus, cans of DEET insect repellant have been distributed to county offices for free pickup by county residents. The 5,000 cans of repellant, which were donated by Cutter, are immediately available at the locations listed below. As this is a limited supply, only one can per household will be allowed.
