Town Update by Alderman Eddie Army, Place 1

In the months since the incorporation of the town, the Providence Village Town Council has been hard at work. Based on the need for open communication with the residents, one of the first items tackled was the creation of a town website. On it, you’ll find agendas and minutes from council meetings and contact information.

The council plans to continue to grow this site in an effort to keep everyone informed and offer opportunities to get involved. Among the other accomplishments are the Council’s appointment of a Town Secretary/Treasurer and the passing of a public safety ordinance prohibiting the sale of packaged liquor, fireworks, and other items within close proximity to a school or park.

The Town Council is working on a number of other initiatives including the creation of a municipal court, inter-local agreements with the Providence Village Water Control and Improvement District, public safety ordinances, and working with Denton County on the release of car registration funds. Their meetings take place on the second and fourth Mondays of each month in the Providence Community Center (9400 Waterman Drive). These meetings are always open to the public and your participation is encouraged. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact them via their website: www.townofprovidencevillage.com.
