Town Update by Mayor Brian D. Roberson

On behalf of the Town Council, I would like to thank you for your support and welcome you to the Town of Providence Village, Texas! Providence Village incorporated into a Town on May 8, 2010. The Town Council was elected on June 19, 2010 and the members were officially sworn in on June 25, 2010.

Over the past six weeks the Town Council has been busy addressing many of the administrative items associated with building a new Town, such as adopting meeting procedures, times and location; procuring legal counsel and an official newspaper; and establishing Alderman place numbers and terms. In order to help drive progress in critical areas and partnerships, each Alderman has been assigned to at least two of the following committees: Communications, Finance, Ordinance, HOA and Water District.

The Communications Committee is in the process of identifying content and potential costs associated with the development of a Town website where residents will be able to find information on Town projects and efforts. The committee also led the effort to appoint the Pilot Point Post-Signal as the official newspaper for posting Town legal notices. Additionally, the committee has created email addresses for the Council and a general voice mail box to improve accessibility and communication with all residents.

The Finance Committee is charged with identifying potential grants to benefit the community and to lead the effort to select a bank, book keeper and other areas related to the finances of the Town. We will be expecting additional updates on this committee in the coming months as their research begins to yield results.

The HOA and Water District Committees have been working with each respective entity to keep lines of communication open and to address issues that concern all entities, such as law enforcement and youth programs. I would like to thank the members of both of these Boards for their effort and dedication toward the success of our community and our new Town.
Last, but not least, is our Ordinance Committee. They have put a tremendous amount of effort into researching ordinances for consideration by the Town Council. The committee has also solicited the input of residents, law enforcement and the HOA Safety Committee leaders.

I look forward to sharing more progress with you in this space over the next few months. Until then, please feel free to contact us with any concerns or suggestions you may have at the email addresses or voice mail number below:
