STORM WATER AND FLOOD PROTECTION
The Town is responsible for the various storm water ponds, the creek and the storm water system within Providence Village. Several of these bodies of water provide amenities to the community via the Providence Home Owner’s Association.
According to the Town’s engineer, none of the land currently available for development is located within the Town is within the 100-year flood plain. Areas within certain Town drainage ways and easements, as well as several residential lots, have experienced some erosion. The Town has implemented certain requirements upon builders to reduce the likelihood of erosion of lots to be built upon in the future. In addition, the Town has retained an outside engineering firm to review possible causes and recommend solutions to the existing problem areas and to reduce the likelihood of future erosion. The Town continues to monitor erosion within its boundaries and has initiated implementation of multiple remedial activities to address the erosion.
In July 2015, the Town began preparation of its storm water management program. The plan will be submitted to the TCEQ in August 2015 for approval and implementation will begin in the 4th quarter of 2015.
